Mardi Gras Smoothie

Today may be Fat Tuesday but that doesn’t mean that you have to go on a crazy binge drinking, King Cake eating rampage to celebrate!! This Mardi Gras Smoothie is delicious, healthy, and easy to make!

For the purple layer you’ll need:

Simply put all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Use just enough water to blend; you want it to be pretty thick so you can maintain the layers. Pour mixture into 1 or 2 glass cups and place in freezer.

For the green layer you’ll need:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango or peaches
  • 1 handful spinach
  • NuNaturals stevia (optional, as needed for sweetness)
  • just enough water to blend

Simply put all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Use just enough water to blend, you want it to be pretty thick so you can maintain the layers.

Remove purple smoothie from the freezer and slowly pour the green layer on top. There you have it! The perfect Mardi Gras Smoothie. It’s delicious, great for weight loss, and kids will absolutely love it too!!

Common Questions:

What kind of blender do I recommend? I use a VitaMix which is an amazing, state of the art, professional grade high speed blender. They are the ONLY blender that will give you the creamy consistency that you desire.  I love, love, LOVE my VitaMix and highly recommend investing in one if you are ready to make serious changes to your diet. I have had mine for almost 5 years and use it daily! If you’re not ready to drop that kind of cash, I also like Hamilton Beach which makes some great budget friendly blenders that you can get at your local Walmart or Target.

This smoothie is absolutely GORGEOUS looking. I bet it tastes just as good as it looks! Looks a little like a cool lava lamp. 🙂 I’ll try it as soon as I get some mangoes (one of my favorite fruits). Thanks and have a great day!

Made this for my breakfast today! The kids and I loved it! Used My magic bullet to double the recipe and made enough for them to have 6 oz each and a full cup for myself. Yum!
