White Sangria Sparkler

One of my favorite things at the end of a hot summer day is to kick back and sip on some fancy homemade cocktails on the dock.  It’s been hot here in Austin, really, really hot…as in 45 days and counting of 100+ degree days, hot.  Pass me an ice cold beverage please!!

Linda Wagner's Detox E-Books are HERE!!

My version of Sangria is simple (of course) and without the added sugar it is the perfect “Skinny Girl” cocktail. Tastes good, makes you feel good, and it’s good for your physique, what’s not to like?! Oh, and have you noticed it’s absolutely GORGEOUS?!  This White Sangria Sparkler is an immediate show stopper when entertaining!

It’s also incredibly crisp and refreshing, an absolute must to help cool you down on those sticky summer nights.

A lot of people are under the misconception that you can not drink and still lose weight. While reducing your alcohol intake is advisable, an occasional cocktail is just fine!  I think it’s one of the things that can help keep you on the path for the long haul. Sometimes you just need a cocktail, you know?!

As long as you keep your cordials clean and light (steer clear of sugary, high calorie and chemical laden mixers), there’s nothing wrong with having a fabulous cocktail from time to time!

You’ll need:

  • 1-2 bottles of crisp white wine, I used 1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc and 1 bottle of sparkling Vino Verde
  • 2 ripe local peaches, sliced
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • 2 kiwis
  • several sprigs of mint
  • Stevia, I used NuNaturals Alcohol Free Stevia

Simply add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine and add several squirts of NuNaturals Alcohol Free Stevia until desired sweetness is reached (REMEMBER: if you want to order your stevia through, you can use my discount code WAG472 to get $5 off your first order). Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse. In the summertime it’s also nice to freeze half of the fruit and add right before serving so they act as ice cubes in the Sangria.

Then find a lovely spot outside to relax, sip, and catch up with friends. I sat on my dock outside and watched the sunset over Austin. A pretty nice way to end the day if you ask me 🙂

So, I’m having a wedding shower Saturday afternoon, from 2 til 4, and can’t decide between the Sangria you have listed here or the Rasberry Margarita’s you posted a year or so ago. Thoughts, suggestions?

I am hosting a bridal shower this Saturday and am planning on making your sparkling sangria. The only problem is I do not have the liquid stevia. Do you have any suggestions on an item to sub that with? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

    • Linda February 23, 2012 at 11:46 am #

You can use honey or agave instead 🙂

I see this recipe calls for a sparkling wine. I don’t tolerate carbonated beverages very well…can this recipe be made in a non-carbonated version?

What would you suggest to use as an alternate to alcohol for a get together for mama’s that are pregnant? Sparkling white grape juice?
    Thanks! Andrea

I make sangria a lot, and don’t like adding sweetener into it if I don’t have to. I learned a neat trick from a friend – combine one dry bottle with one sweet bottle!! For Red, I use one bottle of the cheapest Merlot I can find, then one bottle of Oliver Winery Soft Red (it’s a midwest/Indiana wine). The Oliver wine is pretty sweet on its own, but works really well with the Merlot to sweeten the sangria without additional sugar!
