Skin Rejuvenator Juice Recipe

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

The Skin Rejuvenator - this delicious green juice is bursting with vitamin C and antioxidants for radiant, glowing skin!!

Ever since the holidays, my skin just hasn’t been the same. It doesn’t have that same GLOW about it that it normally does so this week I’ve been on the hunt to find the perfect skin recipe to rejuvenate my tired skin!

The Skin Rejuvenator - This delicious green juice contains loads of vitamin C and antioxidants for radiant, glowing skin!!

Here are the main ingredients I’ve found that help support the luminosity of our skin:

Berries. Dark berries are bursting with skin clearing antioxidants. They’re also jam packed with polyphenol antioxidants, Dr. Perricone says. Polyphenols fight free radicals and regulate skin’s blood flow, giving it rosiness and a youthful glow.

Mint. It acts as a natural anti-inflammatory which can help soften and calm dry or itchy skin. Mint also contains sylic acid a natural acne fighting compound and Vitamin A which can help regulate oiliness. It rejuvenates and refreshes the skin making it bright and soft!

Fennel. If you’re not familiar with this liquorice-flavoured root vegetable already – get to know it. Aside from aiding digestion, reducing swelling in the body and helping to flush out excess fluids and toxins, it also works wonders for the health of your skin and hair.

Kale. Kale contains a full range of vitamins A, B complex, C, E and K, as well as potent levels of manganese, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, protein, folate and phosphorus. (save your kale stems from making kale salads and use them in your juices!)

Green Apple. Green Apples are rich in Vitamin C which helps in preventing damage against skin cells by free radicals and thus reduces the chances of skin cancer. They also contain anti-oxidants which help in cell re-building and cell rejuvenation. This also helps you in maintaining healthy and glowing skin. The antioxidants also protect your liver and ensure its proper functioning.

Broccoli. Antioxidants like vitamins A, B complex, C, E, and K all help to add luminosity to the skin and to revive damaged tissue, while omega 3 fatty acids, calcium and folate support the healing process and aid the proper function of skin cells. (I save all my broccoli stems and use them for my juices!)

Watercress.  These leafy greens are jammed full of antioxidants as well as minerals manganese, carotene and potassium. This makes watercress a powerful cleansing agent, nourishing the skin while helping to flush out toxins and excess fluids in the process. Bonus!

Cucumber. Cucumbers are a natural diuretic and skin smoother. Cooling properties can help reduce redness and inflammation when used both topically and internally.

Lemon. Lemon juice is a natural digestive and liver cleanser. It’s also a rockstar antiviral and antibacterial. Lemon is known for it’s skin clearing properties and when consumed daily can have a powerful illuminating effect on the skin! (source)

  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 4 sprigs mint
  • ½ fennel bulb with greens
  • 2 stalks kale
  • 2 small green apples

You can sip on this juice daily for breakfast or as a snack during the day on an empty stomach. It’s also great for energy, digestion, and overall health. The new year is a GREAT time to get your juice on and that body back on track! My new years routine includes lots of juicing, lots of greens, lots of herbal tea (this one is my favorite you can get it pretty cheap at iherb), and lots of walks outside. The fresh air is magical, even when it’s cold!!

Keep your skin care routine in mind as well. You can see some recommendations here.

I’ll be posting a lot more juice recipes in the future! I hope you are all getting inspired to add more juices to your life! They have sooooo many health benefits and will make you feel good in so many ways! If you have any requests for juice recipes, please leave them for me in the comments section below! Also, I’ve been getting great deals on bulk organic produce at Trader Joe’s and Costco so check out both places if you have them!

My skin is soooo dry during the winter and I stumbled upon this recipe on FoodGawker. I’ve always experimented with juices and smoothies but never had a juicer and my blender just wasn’t cutting it. I read the recipe and literally went to the store 4 hours later and bought a Breville Fountain Plus and all the ingredients. Loved this recipe and look forward to more!

Hi Linda, I just found your blog and I love it! I have a question though, do you think blueberries could be substituted for the blackberries in this juice? Blackberries are not in season and fresh blueberries are available almost anytime?
Thank you again for your blog and generously sharing your knowledge with all of us

    • Linda March 10, 2014 at 4:58 pm #

Hi Wendi, yes you could absolutely use blueberries instead! I think they would be WONDERFUL!!
