Goin’ Back to Cali…

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to SoCal.

Our first stop was Encinitas. I had never been before but I fell in love the moment we arrived. It is such a quaint little beach town with loads of charm, the kindest people, and most amazing restaurants!!

We decided to have lunch at Vigilucci’s “Beautiful Italian Food”. Ā It was beautiful and delicious!!

Several of the employees were from Italy and spoke mostly Itallian. They called me “bellissima ragazza”, I was pretty much sold on the place after that!

I had an amazing chicken salad and a refreshing glass of bubbly. I’m pretty sure it’s a prerequisite to have a glass of champagne to kick off your first day in Cali šŸ˜‰

We walked down the main street, S Coast Hwy 101, which is littered with quaint little shops, cafes, salons, and vintage stores.

Next we moseyed on over to the beach

We ran into some French surfers on holiday. Here they are cheering on their buddy down below. Cool guys…and healthy too! They were all eating salads from Whole Foods!

The beau and I enjoyed a local brew…

Then went back to our hotel to shower and get ready. This was the gorgeous ocean view from our hotel room balcony, not too shabby!

Later that evening we watched this gorgeous sunset at a friend’s party. Their house is spectacular, located on the cliffs overlooking Encinitas beach.

The next morning I headed to Lotus Cafe for a much needed veggie juice. The only one they serve is carrot, beet, and celery but that was good enough for me. That’s always the thing I miss most when travelling – veggie juice!!

For Lunch we went to anĀ AMAZING Peruvian restaurant called Q’ero. If you’re ever in Encinitas you HAVE to go there, it is sooo good!! The only shot I managed to get was of my side salad. Unfortunately, my camera lens broke shortly after šŸ™ but that’s a whole other story… I wish I could have snagged a pic of my amazing drink. It was called “Chicha Morada”, one of their signature drinks made fromĀ boiled purple corn, pineapple, apple, and hints of cinnamonĀ & clove. It was exotic, gorgeous and absolutely delicious!!!

After filling our bellies, we were headed north! Next stop: Huntington Beach for the US Open of Surfing

The main stage.

Beach Cruisers everywhere…my kind of town!

Lifeguards keeping watch.

The crowd.

On our last night, we went to an Angels game and I got to reconnect with an old friend I haven’t seen in several years. It was so much fun! I am a firm believer that, if you’re ever in a city with a MLB team, you should ALWAYS try to make it to a game. There’s just something really special about summer, baseball and beer!! And yes, that’s coming from a Nutrition Coach!! šŸ˜‰

We had a blast on our trip. I always love going to California. The weather is amazing, the food is always fresh andĀ healthy, and of course I love reconnecting with my friends in Cali too!

Some of my favorite blogs are doing a “Friday Phone Dump” and I love it!! So here’s my “dump” for the day šŸ™‚

Hope you all have a great weekend!!
