I need Inspiration

I need to bathe in it.  I need be to saturated and overflowing with it, don’t we all?! In today’s world we are constantly bombarded with negativity, mediocrity and fear and before we know it these things become a normal part of our daily lives. Personally, I’m not willing to participate in negativity or toxicity of any kind. From what I put in my mouth, the people I surround myself with, and the thoughts I think, I do my best to keep in on the up and up on a daily basis. As I’ve said before,  you can’t relive the past and you can’t predict the future, the only thing you have is this present moment.  Fill it with things that uplift and inspire you, don’t waste your time with toxic people, thoughts, food, TV shows, or relationships.

A small example is the evening news.  I stopped watching the news several years ago. I found it extremely depressing to watch and hear one negative story after another. There are so many other sources of information that don’t involve the negative and fear inducing slant so typically associated news broadcasts. The next time you tune in, pay attention to the way you feel after watching the news. Do you feel inspired and uplifted? Do you feel like a better person for having watched it? If the answer is ‘no’ you might want to rethink your daily, news-watching ritual. The same goes for depressing or violent movies, reality shows, and fashion & gossip magazines. The more we surround ourselves with positive images, words, people, and activities, the more positivity and inspiration become our norm.

A good friend of mine sent me this video of Will Smith on his approach to achieving greatness. Here is a lot of wisdom from someone who walks their walk and talks their talk.

You want to be great. You want to be successful, vibrant, excited, ENERGETIC!! Don’t we all?? Hmm, that’s a good question. Take a look at the people closest to you, do they have the same desire for positivity and inspiration? If they say they do, do they actively pursue that passion everyday? Do they take steps to move in the direction of their goals?

In a recent article by The Daily Love, Will smith said it best: “You can tell how far in life you’ll go by the 5 people you spend the most amount of time with.” Que light bulb, ah-ha moment!

“If you want to go far in life, it’s VITAL that you surround yourself with people who love you, people who are looking out for your best interests and people who want you to win.”

This got me seriously thinking about the people I surround myself with. Are they rooting for me? Are they supportive of me, my message, and my passion or are they only there for me when it’s convenient for them? Who are the people who push me, motivate me, and keep me inspired?  Who has integrity and does what they say they’re going to do? If these people have not been supportive, inspiring, or aligned with where I want to go and who I want to be, then what are they doing in my life?! It sounds harsh, but these people actually create more negativity and baggage in our lives than good and we’d actually be better off without them. Here’s the hard, honest truth – if these people aren’t supporting and inspiring us then they are probably doing the opposite and draining our precious energy.

“When taking advice, not everyone’s advice is equal – please, PLEASE take advice from people who HAVE what YOU WANT. You wouldn’t ask a plumber how to treat your cold and likewise you shouldn’t ask people who haven’t accomplished – how to accomplish… If you want to start a business, get advice from SUCCESSFUL business people in your field. If you want LOVE advice, get advice from someone who has an amazing relationship (not the closed down person with a chip on their shoulder). Who you choose to surround yourself with and take advice from is a huge factor in how successful you will become.” – Mastin @ The Daily Love

You can tell a lot about a person by who they surround themselves with. What happens after consistently surrounding yourself with a community of winners is after a short time you begin to talk like them, you begin to act like them, and ultimetly you begin to get the results that they get. This all comes down to the Law Of Attraction, like attracts like. [For instance] If you want to be a Millionaire start to think, act, and do what Millionaires do.

Take a good look at yourself and the people around you. Ask yourself the tough questions. There’s no need to do a total 180 and dump all your friends, just examine where you’re at and where you want to go. Let your heart lead the way. If you know that someone in your life is not in line with where you want to go, it may be time to start distancing yourself from them.
