Cleanse America Day 5

I spent most of Day 5 hanging out at Barefoot Market in Stephenville, TX with Penni Shelton, Paul Risse, and Daniel Hayhurst of Cleanse America. My “Day 5” video also aired on the community site, did you see it? What did you think? I hope it helped everyone remember the big picture of why we are cleansing and what’s really important. The big take away message for most people was that just achieving a step above where we started is a really big deal and a great accomplishment!!

The Green Smoothie Detox

The morning of Day 5 Penni made us all an amazing juice for breakfast!!

fabulous Citrus Jubilee juice recipe

Citrus Jubilee

  • 2 grapefruit
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 head romaine lettuce

Run all ingredients through a juicer (I recommend Breville) and enjoy!

In the afternoon I had another Mate Latte (yerba mate tea, hemp milk, & honey) at Barefoot Market and for lunch Paul made amazing salads with Ginger Miso dressing!!

Penni made an amazing chocolate tonic with, cacao, maca, reshi, chaga, shilajit, and a bunch of other goodies late in the afternoon. I drank it so fast I forgot to take a picture but it was delicious!! I will do an informational post on tonics very soon!!

Once I was back in Austin, my boyfriend treated me to dinner where I ordered a GIANT salad with romaine, amazing green and black olives, red peppers, grape tomatoes, sweet onions and an amazing vinaigrette dressing!

I just realized that on Day 5 I never actually made any of my meals!! Huge thanks to Penni, Paul and my bf for taking care of me!! What a lovely break! How is the cleanse going for all of you? Any of your favorite recipes you’d like to share?

We are officially halfway there!! If you made it to Day 5, congratulations, that is a HUGE accomplishment!!

I am totally loving that you are posting all your eats for this cleanse. I just enjoyed your chocolate shake 🙂 Your video was amazing. I always love to hear what you have to share.

what if I were to eat the ingredients above in the Citrus Jubilee recipe instead of making them into a smoothie? Is there a difference nutritionally?

I’m new to RAW and loving all the information, videos, tips and recipes. Thank you.

you could make them in a smoothie but it would not taste as good! I think all the citrus pith would make it quite bitter!

I have been enjoying some tonics lately that sound similar to the one Penni made you. They are so nurturing, filling and healing all at the same time. Look forward to yours. Loving the simplicity of the raw food prep and cleanup. Also, the simplicity of the delicious foods. Feeding the body with simple, nutritious, dense foods is amazing!
Tonight I had a lovely meal: kelp noodles, spiralized zucchini noodles – tossed together and topped with a homemade raw marinara sauce, and freshly chopped basil leaves. Simple yet so DIVINE!

I like Dragon Herbs products. Just received a package from Iherb.com today with Reishi, He Shou Wu and Pearl Powder. Fun to try these tonic herbs.
    XOXO

    Hi Linda,
Would you be able to share the chocolate tonic recipe that you drank?
    Thank you!

Also in regards to herbs and superfoods (like lucuma, maca, reshi and chaga), what do think you about getting the liquid herbal extracts (alcohol-free) versions rather than the powdered version? I noticed that some of the liquid extracts are less expensive, but not sure which form has the better quality/effectiveness. I’m hoping you can share any experiences/comments/opinions.
    Thank you so much!
