What I Ate Wednesday

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

Everyone really seemed to enjoy my last What I Ate Wednesday post so here’s a look at yesterday’s eats:

7:30am I had about 8oz of coffee with stevia and organic cream. I always use stevia as a sweetener and here’s why. Do yourself a HUGE favor and get some NuNaturals packets asap! I keep them in my car, wallet, purse, and at home so that I am never without them! Sugar is a HUGE culprit in weight gain and health issues so making the switch can have drastic positive life changing effects! If you order through iherb.com you can get $5 off your first order with my code WAG472.

I also always start my day with 1 cap of 80 billion probiotics from ReNew Life. If there was just one product I recommend everyone take, this is it. It supports healthy bowel function, clear skin, healthy immune system, weight loss, and gas/bloating/digestion. It’s the best probiotic that I’ve ever taken by far.

I am a firm believer in intuitive eating which means that I don’t eat by the clock, I eat whenever my body calls for food. That may or may not coincide with traditional meal times but eating this way is what makes me feel best!

I don’t typically get hungry until later in the morning so around 11am I had 3 organic eggs scrambled with fresh spinach, kale, and seasoned with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

Then at 2pm I had about 12 ounces of a chocolate superfood smoothie. This one had:

This was sooooooo good and way better than a Wendy’s frosty any day! It’s perfect as a sweet mid-day snack! You can get all the ingredients at iherb and use the same discount code as above (WAG472) to get $5-10 off your first order. You can also see more superfood smoothie recipes here. They are kind of magical and my go-to when I need that extra umph!

Around 5:30pm I had leftover Chicken Kale Salad with Roasted Veggies from yesterday.

Followed by some dark chocolate covered espresso beans and goji berries as a sweet treat.

I was feeling munchy later on so had some celery & Spicy Thai Peanut Dip as an end of day snack around 7:30pm. The dip is soooooooooooooooooooooo good, I am seriously addicted!!

YUM! It all looks delish.. that salad looks amazing. I definitely need to make that one soon. So you recommend the pro-biotic in the morning? Sometimes I take it at night.. does that defeat the purpose? Thank you, as always!

Hi Rachel! Taking it at night is fine too!

    Hi,
I noticed you use chocolate powder/cacao powder in many of your recipes. Is cacao powder different from cocoa (like baking cocoa)? Can I use them interchangeably? Or does cocoa powder not have the same nutritional values as cacao? I’m preparing to detox using smoothies and your recipes look delish! Thanks!

The cacao has more nutrients so if you can get it, I would. Cocoa powder can be used but doesn’t have nearly as many benefits due to the processing. I hope that helps!

Hi, Somewhere on something I saved of yours was a substitution list and I cannot find it now. What would you suggest for juicing as a replacement for an apricot?

you can use a nectarine or peach, just make sure to remove the pit first!
