Happy Friday!! Today seems like a perfect day for a nice cold glass of Sangria, don’t you think?!
This recipe is so easy to make, healthy, and gorgeous!! Store bought sangria is typically loaded with sugar. This version is naturally sweetened with fresh squeezed fruit juice so it’s still got some great nutrition and antioxidants!
This recipe is adapted from REAL SIMPLE. You’ll need:
- 6 cups Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc
- 1 cup fresh squeezed grape juice, I used red grapes juiced with my Breville juicer.
- 1 apple cut into thin disks
- 1 orange cut into thin disks
- handful of fresh thyme
- 1 cup sparkling mineral water, my favorite is Topo Chico since it’s the most carbonated!
In a large pitcher combine all your ingredients and then refrigerate for at least 1 hour. The longer you let it sit, the more the flavors will infuse and the better it will taste! I like to let mine sit for at least 3 hours when possible. Serve in stemless wine glasses with or without ice – you can also add frozen fruit to use instead of ice cubes for a fun, pretty variation!
You can also add other fruits to this recipe like raspberries, strawberries, halved white grapes, mangoes, peaches, or any other fruits that sound good! You could also substitute mint, basil or other herbs to achieve a different herbal essence to your sangria. Mixing and matching your fruits and herbs is part of the fun…the most fun part of this recipe is, of course, drinking it! Proof that you can be healthy and have fun doing it!
