Winter Weight Loss
We all know how easy it is to pack on the pounds in the winter time! Salads, smoothies, and fresh juices don’t usually sound appealing on a cold winter day. In turn, we end up reaching for comfort foods which are typically high in fat and carbs; next thing we know, we’re up 10lbs! Ugh!!
One thing that always gets me through the winter months is adding yummy warm veggies to all my dishes…even salad! I love my cooked veggies with salad, it’s just a simple change but it makes a world of difference!!
Today I had some red potatoes and broccoli on hand so decided to steam them up in a pot of salted water, slice them, and serve them over a lovely salad. It totally hit the spot!!
My salad consisted of mixed greens: romaine, arugula, and baby swiss chard, shredded carrots, avocado, diced orange bell pepper, sliced cherry tomatoes, a sprinkling of nutritional flakes, and Garlic Expressions salad dressing (it’s my fave!).
Then I topped it with my piping hot boiled potatoes and steamed broccoli. So good!! I know it seems like such a small change but it really does make a world of difference to add cooked vegetables to your salads!! IT lightly wilts the greens and makes the salad much more hearty, warming, and comforting. Another variation that I love is to add a drizzle of my pistachio pesto and these roasted veggies.
