Getting back on track after the Holidays
I hope all of you are getting back into the swing of things after the Thanksgiving holiday! I had a lovely time visiting family and friends and taking a little road trip! Here are some highlights from my trip:
There’s not a whole lot to see driving through West Texas but these wind farms were pretty spectacular!
Beautiful West Texas sunset
Rocky Mountain Sunset
Gotta love that view!!
Winter Wonderland in Ft. Collins, CO
Union Station Lights in Denver
Pit stop in New Mexico
last minuet photo op in Amarillo, TX
And now I’m back in Austin! I’m glad to be home again and I’m definitely ready to get back on track! The holidays are always a busy, busy time. One of the fastest, easiest ways to get back into the swing of things is to start your morning off with some hot water + lemon
It’s not only delicious, it’s also cleansing, hydrating, detoxifying, energizing and great for digestion!
Dr. David Jockers says, “Clean water and fresh squeezed lemon is one of the most well tested energy boosters around. Most people in America rely on caffeinated beverages like coffee to get aroused in the morning. These adrenal stimulants produce dirty energy in the form of blood sugar swings and oxidative stress. Water with lemon produces clean energy by hydrating and oxygenating the body to extraordinary energy and mental clarity.
Most of the food we put into our bodies comes in a cationic form, while our natural digestive processes (hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, saliva) are anionic. Lemon is one of the only anionic foods on the planet. This means that it carries a very strong negative charge and is extremely electrically active.
Fresh lemon helps oxygenate the body and maximizes enzyme function. Lemon is known to stimulate the liver’s natural enzymes. This assists the liver in the process of dumping toxins like uric acid and of liquefying congested bile ducts.” – NaturalNews.com
When I come back from vacation I always start that first morning with my special hot water + lemon recipegreen smoothie to get added minerals and fiber. Then I focus on eating a clean vegetable centered diet throughout the rest of the day.
Remember, progress, not perfection can sometimes be the key to surviving the holidays. Having a few more servings of veggies and steering clear of the candy or cookie jar can be a huge step! The biggest trap is when we fall into the all or nothing category. As in “Oh, the office brought in doughnuts for breakfast this morning and I had one so now I may as well just give up for today and try again tomorrow.” As we all know, tomorrow never comes and the vicious cycle continues…
Don’t let yourself fall into that trap! Get your cute little but to the grocery store and get stocked up on lots of veggies, ingredients for fresh squeezed juices (if you have a juicer), green smoothies, whole grains, and lean meats. Preparation is key, you can survive the holidays but you must be prepared!!
