Getting back on track after the Holidays
I hope all of you are getting back into the swing of things after the Thanksgiving holiday! I had a lovely time visiting family and friends and taking a little road trip! Here are some highlights from my trip:

And now I’m back in Austin! I’m glad to be home again and I’m definitely ready to get back on track! The holidays are always a busy, busy time. One of the fastest, easiest ways to get back into the swing of things is to start your morning off with some hot water + lemon. I like to add a little ginger for an added kick!

When I come back from vacation I always start that first morning with my special hot water + lemon recipe (this also helps to warm your body up on cold mornings!) followed by a green juice or green smoothie to get added minerals and fiber. Then I focus on eating a clean vegetable centered diet throughout the rest of the day.
Remember, progress, not perfection can sometimes be the key to surviving the holidays. Having a few more servings of veggies and steering clear of the candy or cookie jar can be a huge step! The biggest trap is when we fall into the all or nothing category. As in “Oh, the office brought in doughnuts for breakfast this morning and I had one so now I may as well just give up for today and try again tomorrow.” As we all know, tomorrow never comes and the vicious cycle continues…
Don’t let yourself fall into that trap! Get your cute little but to the grocery store and get stocked up on lots of veggies, ingredients for fresh squeezed juices (if you have a juicer), green smoothies, whole grains, and lean meats. Preparation is key, you can survive the holidays but you must be prepared!!
